More dual awareness bullshit! On the one hand, Dirk is standing on the roof of his apartment with Sawtooth and Squarewave while the miles utterly fuck shit up. On the other hand, he is on Dersew where the miles are also fucking shit up. The thumbs up is directed at Jake, who is his client player.
While the red miles are fucking shit up he chats with Caliborn, who tells him to through Cal off the roof because he is a cursed, hollow juju? Yeah whatever, Dirk ain't doing that shit. Caliborn proceeds to give him a """gift""" which is an incredibly shitty incomprehensible drawing, supposedly depicting Dirk and Caliborn getting 'a little too close' and Roxy and Jane also???? Dirk mocks him for being so incredibly shitty and then Caliborn fucks off.

Offscreen
This is a headcanon but offscreen/implied memory. Dirk is young, about 6-8. He is sitting inside his tower room on Derse when he notices a sleeping Roxy float out of her tower. He watches her for a while, but as she drifts further and further away he gets worried and follows (also by floating.). They float over Derse, a purple medievalesque city inhabited by black carapace people. They keep floating, Dirk staying a respectful distance behind, until they are adrift in black space, The further they go the more evident the horroterrors become; monsters in the sky that are both awesome and utterly terrifying. Dirk is not over overwhelmingly scared of them, but he is scared of them in the way that it is scary to look down from a great height into a dark hole. The whole time Dirk keeps hoovering behind Roxy.
Finally, when Roxy starts getting dangerously close, Dirk reaches out and takes her by the hand, and just like that, leads them back home. It's a very trippy experience for Dirk because he has a lot of feelings--fiercely protective of Roxy, sort of scared and awestruck not only by the Horroterros but by Derse (he is, after all, pretty young). Holding Roxy's hand makes him feel weirdly anxious (Dirk will not know it explicitly, but this memory will be the first time he has touched another human being) and excited/scared.
Anyway, he tucks Roxy back in and absconds pretty quickly to his own room to sort of ruminate on the experience. Another thing to note is that even though he is young, Dirk is aware of the fact that she should not reveal that he is awake. So, he pretends to be sleep walking as he floats back to his tower.

TT: Which is half true. She can't ever seem to sleep still. Goes off wandering for days.
TT: Sometimes I've gotta go round her up from some godforsaken cranny of the abyss. Drag her tipsy ass home, tuck her back in.
