Qualitatively, this memory doesn't have much to it: Jake is asleep and hanging out with Dirk, or rather, a splinter of Dirk that is manifesting as a brain phantom. Dirk fucks with him and Aranea, who is dead and a ghost, comes along drops some exposition on Jake in preparation to her taking him into the dream bubble to meet Meenah and everyone else on the meteor.
This is a huge clusterfuck of exposition let's bullet point:
And this explains why he's incorporeal! Sort of. He is a mental manifestation of everything Jake knows about Dirk, which is apparently quite lot. But brain phantom is referring to him as a separate entity so why does he remember this at all...?
